Psychological Testing and Assessement in

Psychological and Psychoeducational Testing and Assessment are unique services that The Collective is proud to be able to offer. Whether you or a loved one is struggling in specific aspects of life, or if you are looking to better understand some behavioral health symptoms that you are experiencing, The Collective is here to help!

Clients seek psychological testing for a number of presenting symptoms including difficulty understanding directions, poor organizational skills, underdeveloped interpersonal skills, frequently forgetful, depression or sadness most of the day, anxiety or restless throughout the day, difficulty letting go of things, etc. Our Clinical psychologists specialize in psychological testing and will get to know clients personally and in-depth.

Clients seek psychoeducational testing when they have difficulty with reading/spelling, writing, and/or mathematics. These difficulties may lead to struggling to keep up in school and as a result may impact their confidence and esteem. Psychoeducational testing can also help clients differentiate whether mental health factors are leading to academic difficulties or vice versa. Some schools may require psychoeducational testing for admissions.

Psychological/Psychoeducational Testing and Assessment: What We Offer

Psychological/Psychoeducational Testing and Assessment is performed by our staff psychologist and doctoral students, and can be recommended by a referring physician, therapist, teacher, or loved one.

We are currently able to offer services to clients ages 14 and older:

The purpose of psychological assessment is to clarify a diagnosis, expand understanding of stagnation in individual therapy or lack of response to medication, increase insight into difficulties at work or school, and/or better understand relational challenges. Psychological assessments may be used to inform treatment recommendations, such as group therapy, psychiatric services, or focuses for individual therapy.

The purpose of psychoeducational assessment is to clarify a diagnosis, identify cognitive and academic strengths and weaknesses, increase understanding of how learning differences may contribute to academic functioning, and develop psychological and academic recommendations. Psychoeducational assessments can be used to create recommendations to help individuals succeed inside and outside of the classroom. Recommendations may include accommodations, which can be useful for classrooms, exams, and/or standardized testing. Additionally, we offer IQ and academic achievement testing that may be required for school admissions.

Appropriate for:

  • Adolescents in high school needing accommodations for classrooms and/or standardized testing, such as the SAT or ACT.
  • Adults needing accommodations in college, graduate school, and/or standardized testing, such as the GRE or CPA exams.

The purpose of gifted assessments is to help identify students who demonstrate strong aptitude and academic achievement abilities in order to be placed in advanced learning settings to meet their educational needs.

Psychological and psycho-educational assessments may involve up to eight hours of testing and interview over at least two time periods. Additional sessions may be necessary depending on the individual client. The clinical interview, which lasts approximately 90 minutes, will gather information about a client’s psychological/psychiatric, medical, familial, educational, and social history as well as other relevant experiences. The types of tests will be specific to the nature of the referral question. We offer assessments for adolescents and adults. We are committed to curating our services to fit each individual who walks through our doors.

Psychological/Psychoeducational Testing and Assessment Areas of Focus
