Meara Weitzman

Licensed Clinical Psychologist (PhD)

I am a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in treating trauma, anxiety, stress, and depression using evidence-based therapies. I believe therapy is a collaborative process: one in which both you and I make a commitment to walk together towards your identified goals. I recognize that change can be uncomfortable and maybe intimidating, though the desire for change is what has brought you to therapy. Many patterns can keep us "stuck": unhelpful thoughts, distressing emotions, problem behaviors, and unhealthy relationships. With the backdrop of validation, trust, and humor, my role as your therapist is to nudge you to get "unstuck" and make meaningful and lasting change.

In the beginning of treatment, we will clarify your goals to provide a direction and benchmarks for progress. At the conclusion of each session, we will identify what makes the most sense to try before the next visit to see what works and what doesn't. We can then troubleshoot and continue to explore what is most effective for you. Your feedback about the therapy process is important and I will do my best to incorporate it to improve your experience and outcome.

One of my primary goals is to support you in becoming "your own therapist." Ultimately, I wish for our work together to empower you to cultivate greater trust in yourself and your ability to use the skills learned in treatment.
